| Saw that Outdoor News photo, guessing that one was not released! Too bad, could have used a shot at a big one like that this Friday. Spent about 4 hours on French Friday. Water is still reallly murky, you can see about 8" under the water. I did manage to get a strike while trolling the southwest hump(marked by laundry jug). She spit it before I had a chance to grab the rod. Marked a lot of fish(not sure what) around that hump, seems like it would attract muskies to feed. Hit sevesal other areas of the lake and nothing. Weeds are starting to turn brown, but I still brought up some green stuff, shouldn't last much longer. Once the water clears, it should improve. I was one of maybe 5 boats on the lake. Maybe November will be a normal years October, who knows? Happy hunting! |

Location: Minnesota | French Lake is one of my favorite lake to fish... There are plenty of huge fish in there for sure!!! I have heard few giants CPRed over last 4 years including a 53"... This lake is definitely a Fall Lake... I make it a rule not to hit this lake until the hunting season starts... Its an 800 acres lake and its heavily pressured during the summer months with less than minimal success being reported...
Water clears up??? Trust me, the water will ALWAYS be green no matter what... You can thank the farms surrounding the lake with their fertilizer being run down into the lake... As far as I know, French is the lake suffering most from this... Last I know, Rice County and Faribault is working on 5-years study to clean up the Cannon watershed... Hopefully this will help!!! The greenage is so bad I dont even think that Zebra Mussels and Eurasian Milfoil would be able to do something about it... even in the wintertime!!!
Just keep throwing baits that gives out the most vibrations... Topwaters and Bucktails would work the best... Hope this helps!!! |

| Only gets a little less green, true. Any suggestions as to areas of the lake or depths for this time of year. I have never fished it in November. I am looking to get one last shot at it this week. Thanks for the info in your earlier post. |

| I have a friend who lives down near French Lake and wants to go out for some muskie. Any insight on the lake? Still very pressured I assume? |
