I bought a Beast and it came with 2 power handles.

Which ones do you guys typically use?

I have been throwing a Tranx 500 PG almost exclusively for the past couple of years. So I am used to the big power handle on that.

I almost always throw a Jr Double Cow girl. Once in a while I will throw double 10s.

Thanks - Midge

I am not necessarily looking for speed, I am looking for ease of pulling the blades in. That's why I fish with a Tranx PG and not an HG.

if your looking for easy pulling, stick with your tranx!

Ha! Yes I will mostly throw the Tranx. The Beast is mostly going to be for my girlfriend and the kids.

The jigging handle in the middle hole is my preferred handle, on my beast.

I use the middle hole on the non balanced handle too. Works well for 10s and smaller. I have the HS Beast. If I had the slower one I'd probably use the balanced handle or jigging on the shortest setting.

I assuming you got the 4.9 beast since you not into speed and want easy pulling...I run the Counter balance handle on my 4.9 but Run the Bigger SIngle power handle on the HS beast for cranking power..

Correct. 4.9

My 4.9 beast with counter balance handle pulls tens like they not even there if you ask me no need to go to the Big handle...but all personal prefrence Give them both a try but I like the counter balance on all my reels only running big power handle on the Beast 60HS so If Im trying to burn 10s I can

So just to confirm so I understand what everyone's terminology is:

- "counter balance" is the regular handle that comes on it
- Small power handle
- "jigging handle" is the larger of the 2 power handles that has 3 different squares/spots to connect to

25Homes looks like he uses the regular handle. Does anyone else use the regular handle that comes with it? The smaller power handle doesn't even look like it is any longer. What's the point of even using the power handle?

Don't get me wrong, I switched all my revo toro winch to the power handle, but they don't appear to be any longer than the regular handle. It just has one grip instead of 2. There must be a difference that I am not noticing.

I use the regular handle - double paddle handle

I have not used the counter balanced casting handle.

I did use the jigging handle in the middle slot for a while on my HS and NEVER had an "engagement while casting"

The bigger knob with out two knobs is what some people prefer, and the counter banance prevents the reel from turning while casting. That can damage many things and break your line. This is remedyable by holding the thumbar down as you cast and that practice would be recomended while using the jigging handle in any of the three holes. The longer the more important. Also if you cast with the reel handle facing downwards that reduces engagement.

Ok - so the "counter balance" handle is the smaller power handle and not the double paddle!

Thanks guys. I know it only takes a minute to pops the other handles on and off, I was just wondering.

I am going to start with the double paddle regular and work my way up from there.

yes double paddle is handle that comes on it I believe only double handle then counter balance is one with silver round thing opposite of handle and Power handle is the One sided handle with different holes for length

Who doesn't hold the thumb bar down during a cast? My thumb stays on it so I can thumb the spool to prevent a backlash.

I wondering when people we talking about reels engaging during a cast on another post!

Not just covering the thumb bar to feather the spool but actually holding the bar down. There is a difference. And with heavy lures and big rods they are reaching very destructive speeds to everything if engagement happens. Like I said I had no issues. I also had no issues with my NACLS either.

I had the 4.9 Beast I swapped out those gears for the 5.3 gears and use the jigging handle on the middle hole.
I still prefer my Trinidad TN 12 w power handle for speed
