Posts: 176 | I know many people on this board love their old Tuffy's and have refurbished or rebuilt their interiors. What are alternate floorplans or modifications you have made? I know some have put in battery compartments up front, some have changed the rod boxes to accommodate longer rods, some have changed the rear casting deck, some have made their live wells into storage or simply lure storage. What would you do or what have you done to your old Tuffy? We can call this segment: This Old Tuffy, I'm not sure Norm Abram can do the carpentry, but you get the idea. Nomad

Posts: 176 | I have a Tuffy Bass'n Maurader which I love! It's a 1990, A Maurader with a console, front and rear casting decks, and rod storage for rods up to about 7'9", but only a couple and they bang around in there. I've replaced the seating area due to soft wood, my floor is getting soft, and a little of the rear deck is getting soft, the front storage has always leaked a little, so my goal would be: Larger rod locker, more storage, (I really don't need a live well with today's nets being an over the water livewell), Maybe an alternate battery storage area, maybe a newer consol design, maybe more knee room. And a new custom boat cover. I had a great one when it was new, but it is thread bare. Some or all of these would be nice if I ripped it apart and started over. What have you done, and what would you do it you could? Nomad Edited by Nomadmusky 7/22/2017 6:48 PM

Posts: 4269 Location: Ashland WI | I have a 91 esox Ltd. I added a compartment in the front for two batteries. I also added a casting deck in the back with hinged lids. It stores my starting battery and my gas tank.

Posts: 176 | How or where did you put the battery compartment in the front? What changes did you need to make?

Posts: 4269 Location: Ashland WI | I put it just behind the deck. Basically took up some of the lower floor space. I had to remove some of the floor inside the compartment to get the batteries to drop a bit so the lid could fit on.

Posts: 320 | 1988 Marauder. Added a storage compartment on port side rear of livewell. Made rod locker longer to hold rods up to 9-6 and added another storage compartment to the rear of it. Added a hinged casting platform with storage for batteries, charger & gas tank.

Posts: 176 | Todd, What were the dimensions? Was yours a tiller? Mine is a console.

Posts: 320 | My rod locker is about 9-8 long. I put a 9 footer in there and it fit easily. The top of the locker is about 12" wide as are all the compartments. The storage compartment behind it is roughly 12x23". The other storage compartment behind the livewell is about 12x12. The casting deck is 65" wide by 24". The lid for the platform is about 43x24. I built the boat so that the front casting deck & rear are all the same level.

Posts: 38 Location: WI | Have a 92 esop ltd. that I have upgraded. I put the trolling motor batteries in the front ex. storage compartment. Which will help with a better ride. I had Justencase build me a storage compartment that fits in front of the ex, raised deck. Nice! And built a small raised deck in back by the tiller where starting/electronics battery goes, plus I upgraded to a 12 gal. gas tank in back. Really like my Tuffy! Posts: 176 | Has anyone moved their rod locker to the other side of the boat? How about made their storage more modular for box's like 3700's? Nomad
