Location: Lindenhurst, Illinois | Heading to the Hayward area over labor day weekend. Taking my 11 yr old and 9 yr old in the hopes of helping them catch their first Musky (actually Grandpa is going to and come to think of it he has never caught one either - going for the trifecta). If you believe the weather report, it looks like a nice cold front is moving through the area on Thursday. Any thoughts on how this will impact the fishing and what I can do to give them the greatest odds of hitting a Musky? Small baits? Deep Water? We will be fishing Teal and Lost Land Lakes.
I wish I could convince the 9 year old to fish for something other than Musky but he is stubborn, like his mother, and wants to fish nothing but Musky (with nothing other than Musky tackle). |

Location: Pewaukee, Wisconsin | Dave, Suicks have been very hot up that way. I know of a guy that won a WMT with two fish, both caught on a Suick. Three different people told me Suicks are rocking the north woods. This was just in the last two weeks. Cold fronts and Suicks go together. Slow easy meal for a slugish fish. |

| Hey Dave,
A couple of things you might try, and this is purely speculation here bud. I would hit the shallow weedy bays (4'-8' depths) and throw top water baits at dusk. This will probably work better in the 2nd to 3rd day of the front. With water temps being rather high the past couple of weeks, the fish might (and I stress might) head shallow at the end of the day searching for an easy meal.
I agree with the Suick method also bud. Any slower moving glide bait (Manta, Suick, Jerko) might just be the ticket at the deep weed edge.
I will be heading back up north myself this weekend, and these will be a couple of the techniques that I will be using buddy. Talk to you soon.
