Posts: 454 | Hey guys, I would first like to say thanks to all of you for sharing so much information with myself and other on this board, it is a great thing!! I am heading to the little falls area to visit some family and was wondering if anyone would be willing to help me out with some info on some lakes to fish. I know Alexander and Shamineau are in the area, are either of these lakes producing right now? Any info on lakes to fish in this area would be great! If you do not want to post the info you could also e-mail me at [email protected]. I live in waconia minnesota, I have been fishing waconia and minnetonka primarily lately. Things have been slow for me the last 2 weeks. Fish are not moving. I even tried 5 hours of night fishing on Minnetonka on Thursday to no avail, 11 p.m to 2:30 a.m and nothing to be seen or heard. Once again I am always looking to get out on the lake so if any of you want a fishing partner, I always have room in my boat to get out for a couple of hours. Hopefully I hear from some of you soon! Good luck to everyone who battles the heat this weekend, I may try a night bite again, but this heat may be too much for me. Thanks again, Tony Steffes [email protected]

Posts: 108 | " I live in Waconia " ...... Why go to Little Falls ? You've got at least 6,7 places to pound and a dozen others to hit when no one can see you .......... After waking up every day on that lake , why go anywhere else, unless it's for a trip....... dennis b

Posts: 454 | Dennis, I am just visiting family and would like to fish while I am there. I do spend most of my time fishing the Waconia area, basically the western metro area. Tony Steffes

Posts: 454 | You are right shep! Thanks for pointing that out. I guess 3 1/2 hours in the darkness with no action seems more like 5 hours!

Posts: 32886 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | It's not too far to Brainerd/Nisswa, and there are several muskie waters there, including the river. Gull kicks out big pike and bass, if you're not too stuck on catching a muskie.

Posts: 136 | Alex, Sham, Round, Cedar, Mille Lacs are your basic choices. Depends on the weather but I'd hit Alex or Sham if it's cloudy or late eve.... Cedar if sunny...and Mille Lacs (North end) if I wanted to make the drive...Little falls is only 1 1/2 hours from Longville area as well.

Posts: 379 Location: Thief River Falls MN | Hey Tony, I'm originally from the Little Falls and have had considerable success on Alex and Shamineau. There are tons of spots on Alex and here is a good stretch to start on. Put in on the east end of Alex and you can fish the whole shoreline pretty much from the landing to Ogema point. Stay in about 20' and work the deep coontail edge. Key areas to work are Mohrs Point and the turn between Weyerhauser point and Ogema Point. I have seen fish many places along that stretch so it pays to fish the whole stretch. Topwater and spinnerbaits work well. If fish dont show in weeds try trolling the basin with cisco kids or jakes. We have caught alot of fish out there trolling in the past few years. Its amazing how much bait is out there on Alex. You can fish anywhere on Shamineau but we have done the best fishing shoreline areas to the east and west of the bible camp on the north shore, and the south shore east of the reed point. Both lakes get hit hard by pleasure boaters and musky guys alike so you may want to key on early morning or late evenings, or even after dark. Hope this helps. later, toddb

Posts: 454 | Hey guys, Thanks a lot for the info, it really helps when you go somewhere to have some kind of idea of where to go rather than just fishing blindly. If I can ever help any of you out with the metro area just let me know!!! Thanks again! Tony Steffes

Posts: 32886 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | ed's correct! Any reports from up there after you are back would be fun to read. There is great fishing in that area, for sure. If I didn't already live in fishing para-dice ( great fishing, but sometimes a crap shoot), i would consider living there, north in the Nisswa area; even though Dan and Dennis Zimmerman live there.
