Posts: 13 Location: Billings, MT | I haven't seen any LOTW reports yet for this season, so I thought I would post one for everyone, as I'm sure anyone with a summer trip planned is getting jacked up! We fished 6 days, 2 guys and boated 17. Sabaskong bay. Camped at Red Wing. Weather was inconsistent but short feeding windows were intense. We boated fish everyday, except for the first day. 7 of our fish came on the 8, with 2 of those being fish we didn't see until into the 8 (so make sure you 8 after every cast!). Water temps were 63-67. Keys to the bite were simple-rock reefs close to cabbage, and speed. Of the 17 fish, only 3 were over 40- a 42, 44.5, and a 47. We also lost 2 big fish, one of which was pushing 50 (it ate on the 8 also). We had my 6yr old in the boat so about a 1/3 of our time was fishing walleyes and smallies, so overall I feel pretty great about our week.

Posts: 267 | Howdy, Great report, much appreciated! When you say "speed" do you mean ultra fast or slow? And what lure family were you referencing? Take care, Ruddiger

Posts: 13 Location: Billings, MT | Speed- burning blades. The first day we didn't catch any and only had two follows. With water temps at 63-64, on day 2 we started looking for reaction bites, it worked and we stuck with it. I'm trying to upload some pics but they are too big of a file. I need to re-size, then I will post.

Posts: 13 Location: Billings, MT | Yeah, it's pretty cool to get the opportunity to fish with my son and dad. I'm so proud of my son; to be engaged on the boat for 12-13hr days. I've had him on some big adventures since he was about 3; including the mouth of the Columbia several times, which if you haven't been there you have to go! Now he's already asking if we can go back to LOTW next year. yeah, sounds like a pretty good idea. Attachments ---------------- Springers and Corey.jpg (154KB - 364 downloads)
