Does it seem like the handle nut is loose or the anti reverse is not working well? Does the spool turn backwards or just the handle?

Half a cm isn't very much. My NACL has a little play in it. But I don't have any other issues with the reel. Does everything else function ok?

the handle moves back slightly the spool does not. this only happens when the spool is under pressure

I had an NaCl do that. The stainless stud that holds the handle had reamed out the hole in the aluminum jigging handle and caused some play. It never hurt anything, but without knowing your exact situation it's tough to say if you're having the same problem

its also brand new out of the box and everything is intact it just slightly moves backwards when the spool its applied enough pressure to keep in place

It is fine. Don't worry about it.
