I switched from the 9" to the 10" in about 1993 and have almost 100% stuck with the 10". For those of you that have used the 12", how does it compare with the 10"?

I don't know much about suicks (I only have one, not even sure on size) but what is the difference between the 9" and 10" because I doubt a Muskie will pull out a ruler and make sure it's 10"

I don't understand why some company's make the exact same bait but only a inch bigger/smaller

9" to 10" is substantial. Just like 6" to 7.5" is about twice the size. I haven't used a 12"

I guess in certain situations it could matter. I guess it depends where you start. A 3" and 4" bait will look way different while 14" bait and 15" bait is less of a difference.

I can't comment on the 12" Suick but lots of times a bait might only differ an inch in length but the profile is quite a bit different. The profile of the 10 inch Suick is quite a bit bigger than the 9.

The 12s have a much slower rise than the 9s which seem to pop back up quickly. The two 12s I have also run deeper and are almost neutral on the pause. I love them

Ditto on Dan's comment. All the wood ones can vary somewhat but the 10s and 12s have now almost entirely caused the retirement of my 9s whether wood or plastic. The 10 plastics are a unigue critter and unbeatable(pun intended)in shallow rocks. To get the 'normal' 10 type action u need to add a bell sinker weight to the front hook hanger though.
'Suicks'-not only a classic but clearly a top 5 bait of all time!

Thanks much. This gave me even more juice to remind myself to..." just keep pitchin' " when things get slow!

I cant remember the last time i thrown a 9" suick, the 10" and 12" cast so much better, when there's a bit of wind.

Also take a look at the Fat AZ Raptors, they fly out there like a freaking rocket, and had some good luck on them after i started using them.

I'll second the raptors...I bought a 10" soft tail from Andy and it's awesome. Judging by everyone's input on the 12" suick I may need to pick one of those up as well.

My 12" unweighted Suick was too buoyant; it was almost impossible to keep under water. A little solder on the front hook cured that. The weighted 12" has an absolutely deadly, nearly neutrally buoyant pause. Completely agree about the 12" and 10" being much easier to cast with some wind.

Rpike, yes I should have mentioned weighting.Almost all my 10s and 12s are weighted.Only time I use unweighted at all is 'popping' in heavy weeds.

Thanks, This actually sounds intriguing to me, I have been wondering about the un-weighted model and hoping this was the case. May need to get one.
