Location: oswego, il | Oy, the ads are blocking the edit button. Downrigger rods are very light rods. They are made to bend like an ugly stick when hooked to a downrigger. Dipsey diver rods are better suited. The berkely rod has an action suited for dypseys. The okuma magda is a decent inexpensive reel. Diawa makes a less expensive line counter too. |

| Get a Shimano TRD they like $30 and used for Muskie trolling all the time work great and lots of budget reels you can get for trolling....get a cheap abu round reel or something can make a real nice trolling combo for under $100 |

Location: Wisconsin | Daiwa Wilderness MH trolling rods. Can find them around from 15 to 20 bucks. Work great. Match up with a Okuma Magda, get those for 30 to 40 bucks.

Location: Apparently where the Muskie aren't | I have a TDR that I'm in the process of selecting a reel for. I'm deciding between diawa sealine and okuma convector. They are both nice reels (this is my experience with looking at them in the store. Have not used them yet). Between the TDR and one of these reels you can keep it easily under $100 if you watch for sales or watch on ebay. (In the mail I got a "get $20 off your next purchase of $100 or more" card from cabelas, so I might use that) |
