I recently purchased a 2001 ranger 681vs, I'm looking at plugging the big live well and converting it to a dry well, Any input on how to do this would be awesome. Also i'm looking at purchasing a rear casting deck or making one of my own. Does anyone know where to get one? or have the dimensions to make one myself? Thanks |

Location: Contrarian Island | if you want the factory Ranger deck call Ranger, ask for parts, have your vin # handy.
as far as plugging the livewell, just get some livewell plugs and plug the one on the inside and the intake in the back. |

Location: Duluth, MN | When i bought my 99 620VS i called Ranger and they build you a new deck extension from scratch....takes about 4-6 weeks. Costs about $350. They did not have hunter green carpet in anymore so they sent it without carpet and i had to put it on myself. Not a perfect match but i don't really care. They also send you the hardware for the seat base but i did not use theirs. I bought my own plate and installed it offset from the middle to make it more usable when casting and doing 8's.
Also i just bought livewell plugs myself. Bass Pro Shops has them if your local store does not. I believe they are 3/4" but yours might be different.

Location: MN | I made my own rear deck for my 690. If you pm me your cell I can send you description n pics in a couple weeks if that will help you at all. (Boat is up north, won't be going up till 17th). We plug the two inner holes, the outer hole on the side (overflow), and the hole on that side in the transom, just to be sure. Has worked for us. We just use rubber 'corks' of slightly different sizes that you find at ACE Hardware |

Location: midwest | I called and asked to have a front deck box made for my 681vs and was told by Ranger that they no longer do that for this model boat. I would have gladly shelled out money for a front deck extension directly from them. |

| Howdy,
Great boat, as my first Ranger was a 2000 681VS. I had both the front and rear extensions (all three versions made at the time). If I were you I would look to get a deck box/casting deck made by Just Encase. Personally, I think thats your next best option.
That boat always benefited with some weight in the bow, particularly as your gas levels dropped, so using that part of the floor for tackle storage would also be beneficial for holeshot and for maximizing your storage space.
The cost won't be as detrimental as you may think.

Location: Antigo Wi. | Just bought a 681 this spring, made my own decks for front and back myself, just use 2x6 or 8, buy some carpet from Cabelas and they are the same level as the deck. Simple and cheap, but very effective. |

Location: Lakeville, MN | i built front and rear decks for my 681, i literally just threw away my cardboard templates or i would have given them to you. I found a used justencase for the rear deck so im sure i could get you the rear deck i made if your interested.. it is covered in hunter green but you could change that out pretty easy. |
