Are rubber baits such as medussa's and mag dawgs harder to reel because of their weight?

Jake pretty much answered this but the main factor is resistance. Pounder dawgs and dussas are actually quite simple to reel through the water due to their shape (casting can be a different story ??) where as big blades create a lot more resistance and therefore require more energy to move.

Of course, you can always tailor your reel choice to match you're desired use

There is nothing worse than having a pounder getting the back hook tangled with your line and you can't shake it loose. I was so sore by the end of last season it almost brought out tears when it happened.

A few years ago I was fishing with a guide fishing pounders . He was joking around. Said he was going to get some Mexicans to cast the baits out when the bait hits the water they would hand the rod over and you reel the bait in..like others have said tossing them out is the hard part reeling them in is easy
