Wondering if anyone has a idea or solution to water getting into the rod locker from the bow seat post. It has a cover that goes over the shaft of the post but water still gets in and quite a bit, unfortunately the boat sits outside the the summer and even with a cover water gets in. Other then constantly propping the rod box open to air it out any other fixes? Thanks

Might try and re seal the hole with silicone down in the base and see if that doesnt help and I would consider a small tarp over that area either under teh cover or on top of the cover in that are to give xtra protection....I would think silicone would do the trick sure seal is wore out due to use and leaks but new silicone seal and you might be very surprised

Pull the seat base and find a flush mount cup holder deep enough to accept the seat base and post.Silicone in the cup holder and reinstall the base.

I think the whole may be to small for a cup holder but that's a good idea I need to figure something out its frustrating having to prop it open all the time. I'm surprised noonr else has this issue

I used a dust cup from a bearing buddy; it fits and works well.

I think my 621 has the same problem but it stays inside most of time. My rod locker and front hatches always leak from waves over the bow though. My solution has been to leave the hatches open for a couple days after every trip like you say.

What might be of interest to you is that I took the stupid carpet out because it got so nasty, much better now without that moldy stinking carpet. Ranger never should have put any in there to begin with .

Do you have double locks on the storage compartments Jerry. They are a huge plus if not and will likely eliminate water leaks.
The locks themselves can leak through worn out o rings. You can take them apart and get new o rings to eliminate that issue also. You might be surprise how much water can enter through improperly sealed locks.

Good advice as always.

I'm pretty sure all my O-rings are gone now, but even when they weren't my front hatches (with double locks) would still leak a little bit after taking a series of waves over the bow.

I even went as far as removing the front locator when I'm not casting because of the amount of water that can and does rush over it sometimes. With that said; it's due diligence for me to just flip open all hatch covers (even the live wells) after I tuck the boat in at home… I hate moldy compartments!

TH-marine has a pedestal drain that could be useful to channel the water out of the locker :http://thmarine.com/seat-pedestal-drain#

After you removed the carpet in the rod locker how I'd it look? I wanna keep every thing looking as nice as possible.

The rod lockers in the new boats are not carpeted. You can remove the carpet your boat and replace it with a rubber mat. A large variety of these exist that will fit in the rod locker and look nice too. Make sure the drain is clear in the locker and your good.

It looked cleaner/better, like it came from the factory that way. Just need a solvent to remove the glue.

Did you take just the bottom carpet out or all the inside carpet?

I think your 02 is different than what Jerry has. They used to carpet the entire locker but they changed and put carpet only in the bottom for a while. Now there is no carpet at all. Im not even sure if yours is carpet or a felt type liner. Youre going to have to check on it yourself. Seems the 02 had a bit higher sealing edges than the newer ones and you should be able to get it pretty water tight. Seal the post plug and check the o rings on the lock before you tear out the carpet.

Jim is spot on. My 08 had a carpet pad glued to the bottom only, the entire interior of the compartment is smooth white fiberglass after removing the carpet.
