Need to take my boat in somewhere to get some fairly minor work done. New impeller, fix some guages on dash, check some maintenance items on my Optimax that might need replacing, etc, etc. What per hour rates are you seeing out there?

I think im my area last time I saw was around $80 an hour labor rate...thats around the Pittsburgh area and one shop sure you will see variation here anywhere from $45-100++ all depends on the shop and the area...similiar to labor rates at car dealerships

Depends where you are and who you know. Dealer Rhinelander WI $95 or more. My local mechanic for all motorized things in central WI- $65.

Location: Eastern Ontario
Authorized factory service from a big dealership with a high overhead is going to cost more than a shade tree mechanic but you could find very good or very bad in both. While the motor is under warranty I would go with factory authorized. Preferably the selling dealer.

Labor rate really doesn't matter if the overcharge on hours. Go with a place your comfortable with, that will charge and treat you fairly. 1 hr at $99 is still cheaper than 2 at $65.
