Hey guys looking to take a canada trip this summer. Looking for a lake with great walleye fishing and trophy potential or atleast decent muskies. I will be taking my own boat and taking my wife, son and inlaws with me. hoping to stay under (well uner) $500 per person. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I think if your main emphasis is on walleyes, I would choose Eagle Lake. I think it fishes better than LOTW in that regard. Trophy Muskies are certainly present

Your budget is going to be difficult to meet, as Canada is very expensive. Most places charge per person, and $750 per is usually on par with what most cost. Many are even far more expensive than that

*edit. Birchdale Lodge on Eagle lake charges 485 per person with their own boat, excluding gas and taxes

Stay on Cliff lake for smallie and muskies, trailer over to Lac Seul for the walleye fishing. You could do that for around $500/per

If you are going to Eagle then look at these 2 resorts. Prices can't be beat and they both have a great reputation.

If you don't mind camping, you can find places around Lac Seul and you'll never be disappointed with the walleye fishing. $300 per person for the week if you camp.

I haven't done awesome on the walleyes on Eagle yet, but we're always there in August and primarily muskie fishing. Structure everywhere, my advice is bring as much gas as you can, I used 35 gallons in 4 days through a fairly fuel efficient 4 stroke 70.

I like Birchdale lodge, this will be our 3rd year staying there. We skipped the fish fry both years but last year they left us some leftovers and it was amazing! Will be attending it this year! If you're trying to keep it even cheaper you can ask about a shorter stay. We did 4 nights last year and it was very reasonable, but I did like the full week trip a little better just so you can make sure you get some good weather.

Think about Rainy Lake. Walleye fishing is great, so is smallie, pike, and muskie fishing can be really good. Coppen's Resort gives you access to big water for walleyes and an easy run to Red Gut for muskies. http://www.coppensresort.com/

I've stayed there three times. Nice, quiet harbor. Nice owners. Not fancy but good, well-equipped cabins.

Check out Gold Pines out of Ear Falls - we camped there one year, and were able to keep our boats in the marina - they had power right at the docks. All camp sites had water/electricity, and they had a nice shower house and fish cleaning house. If you're on a budget, and don't mind camping, go that route - it's a lot of fun and the price is right.

I really haven't fished walleyes when I've been up there, but I've fished out of Mylies Place on LOTW the last few years. They charge per cabin rather than by person. Check them out as it may easily get you down to the cost you are looking for. Nice clean cabins, and great hosts too.
