Posts: 668 Location: mercer wi | So I'm looking around at boats right now and I like the layout of the x190. I'm looking for single counsel but find alot of duals. Are the passanger counsels removable or are the fixed. The look removable. So I guess my question in can I buy a dual and remove the passanger counsel Edited by upnortdave 1/15/2017 5:51 PM

Posts: 633 Location: Madison, WI | If they are like every other Tuffy model the consonle is just bolted on so I believe they are removable. I believe there was a thread last year about this and people recommended buying a dual console and removing one so you still have the second for resale. Hope this helps.

This was my plan but when I took mine out the edge of the boat looked so rough and unrefined that I put the console back in. It was disappointing to say the least.

Posts: 32886 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | The boat is not finished to be a 'user choice' dual or single console. It can be done, but some cover plates and cosmetic work will be required. Look at how the passenger console is fitted in to the cap and side tank before you buy.

Posts: 668 Location: mercer wi | Is the glass just not clear coated? What kind of cover plates? Is it that big of an eye sore? Will try to look if I can find one for sale close. Hard to find a 190 for sale. I know there's a couple on here but nothing close. Thanks for info

Posts: 32886 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | You for sure will have to cover the bolt holes, and trim/fix up the cap where the console is removed. Get in one and look at the passenger console. Marine Diversified will have one at the Milwaukee Muskie Expo.

Thanks for info On mine there were blemishes on the fiberglass and on the edge of the ledge where the console sits down it was rough and unrefined. I know other people have bought a Tuffy with the passenger console and then removed it without any complaints. I am guessing their's looked much better because mine looked awfully rough underneath and I didn't see a quick, easy cover-up. Plus, I have a carpet seam underneath the gunwale that is mostly hidden by the passenger console. When I removed the console it was very noticeable. Overall, it was a pretty easy decision to put the console back on. I wish I had taken pictures when it was off. Now I know it has been suggested to buy the Tuffy with the dual console and then you can take the passenger console out if you want. Based on how mine looks I wouldn't recommend that if you know you want a single console. Hope it helps. Edited by Paul S 1/17/2017 4:53 AM

Posts: 32886 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | If the cap or liner is blemmed from the console installation, a buffer will probably correct that. The side tank is a molded part, and there is no difference between the areas behind, in front of, or under the console and where the gas fill is boxed in, with the possible exception of a foam hole area about an inch across under the carpet. The aluminum lip on the side tank may not be there where the console was installed, but a grab handle installed there will mask that, or you can match the aluminum angle used to make the lip. The console is placed after carpeting and cap installation. Take a look under the passenger console before you decide what to do with a bright flashlight, and you should be able to determine if it's a project you want to tackle. Where did I say this? 'Now I know it has been suggested to buy the Tuffy with the dual console and then you can take the passenger console out if you want.' It can be done, but you may, as I said above, need to do some fairly serious cosmetic work to the area. I'm used to refurbing glass boats, so to me it wouldn't be too bad. Up to you. Not sure if Boulder Marine will have one, they do not have on on order right now. Attachments ---------------- 5266333355_bc08e68bf0_o.jpg (129KB - 418 downloads)

I wasn't suggesting this was coming from you.

Posts: 668 Location: mercer wi | I'm looking at used not new. Can't afford brand new. Just out of budget. Was told at boulder marine I was looking at $35000-$40000 just for boat motor trailer. I've found a couple 3-5 year old for around $23000. But most are duals. And any singles are to far away.
