| New to Muskie fishing got all my gear but need to know a good knot to tie on my wire/ flouro leaders. I'm using 80lb braid, is a palmor know good enough? |

Location: Hayward, Wisconsin | You will never go wrong with a properly tied Palomar knot! Quick; easy; strong. Have NEVER had on fail...the line will break first. Been using it for 25 years or more.

| I agree. In fact, I only use a double palomar when braid fishing. Got to be close to a 100% knot. |

| The Polomar knot isn’t as well suited for tying wire directly to your bait, snap swivel or snap. The clench knot works well here and is easy to tie for a direct connection of wire to bait or snap. It also works for attaching higher test fluorocarbon to bait or snap. This knot is particularly well suited for high test fluorocarbon or stiff steel – titanium leaders. Looks simple but never let’s go.
I use the double uni-knot for tying the fluorocarbon leader directly to main line (be it braid or mono).
I use the Alberto knot to tie wire leader directly to my main line, regardless if the main line is mono or braid.
At least these knots are my bread and butter after trying quite a few.

Location: Minnesota. | Funny, from this post, I was in the lib. last night waiting for my wife and got to looking into a few knot books. Some were recent. The Palomar was profiled and tested out at 95%-100% in the descriptions.
I use a Jack Crawford. Listed as tested out at 95%. For me it's a super-simple knot and with 2 times thru the hook-eye it's tested at 100% in my own backyard tests. I have sometimes had trouble doing the Palomar. One leg didn't pull tight and the knot seized. Obviously I wasn't "facing the right way" in my boat..;)
6 of one...1/2 dozen of the other. Whichever you feel most comfy and skilled at works the best for you!! |

Location: Chisholm, MN | I know everyone like the palomar, but I use one that I think Joe Bucher recommends. It's kind of a combination of palomar and trilene knot. Kind of hard to tie, but I have 100% confidence in it.
