Does it come with batteries for the TM? And where are they mounted? Probably in the front storage, taking up half the room. And why only a 2 bank charger? Not trying to dis the boat, but just letting you know what bugged me about the Muskie Edition. I'd take the regular Fish Hawk and save the money from the decals.

Shep or anyone - I have a feeling this price tag is a little high...My persoanl thoughts are this boat should be in the high $17-high 18K range...Or am I off?

Tahoe,

If you look at the regular Fish Hawk, there is battery storage for the trolling motor batteries, under the floor between the consoles. When they made the Muskie boat, they took that storage away for the bait hanger box. So now you have to put the batteries in the already limited storage in the front deck. I'm serious here. That really made up my mind to not get that boat.

As far as price, I believ the 135 opri is about the same price, or slightly more than a 150 EFI. If I remeber correctly, I priced that boat last year around $19,600 with the 150 EFI. No charger, and no electronics. Cover came as a show special.

I'd ask GregM what he can do on that boat. He works for Crystal in Rice Land, WI.

We bought a water ready crestliner 1850 with a 125 merc, 65lb AP and two x-91's and cover for 18,500. It seems a bit high but the motor will be more.

Personally, I think the extra counsole takes up more room in the boat. I did not like the musky edition as well. Maybe if you are fishing big water with big waves it would be better for the ride but that's all.

Thanks guys! I will be in the boat tomorrow so I'll have to check out this battery/storage situation. I am looking for more storage and if I do not like it, I'll order a new Regular Fish Hawk or something else.
Plus, from your input, the price may be too high! I know Genmar closed their books and all '03 models have to go....You'd think they deal a little more and I'll find that out too.

Tahoe, that price is pretty close. I purchased a 2001 CVX182 with a 115 Yamaha 4 stroke that I equipped pretty much the same for around $20K. I think the added cost is in the 135 Optimax.
One word of advice would be to get a 3 bank charger. Crestliner offers a 2 bank charger as an option and that is a mistake for any model with a 24 volt trolling motor.

Why would the 2 bank charger not be sufficient?

Tahoe, the problem I encountered is that the accessory buss is fed off of the starting battery and all the accessories run off this battery. Eventually if you play the radio, run the lights, run the circulating pumps, etc. the battery will need to charged. Also, unless you troll or travel from spot to spot on large lakes, the motor doesn't run enough to recharge the starting battery. The next time around, I will probably install a 3 bank charger in a 10,10,10 output or a 10,10,6 output.

Check out the SC vs. DC thread for more info on the Musky Edition.

I agree with the comments on the 2-bank charger. I should have skipped the factory install and purchased my own 3-bank. For $150 I might do that over the winter.

$21K sounds about right to me. I bought mine brand new last fall with a 150 Evinrude and a ton of bells and whistles. Came out to $25K. A 135 brought it down to the low 20's, so you should be able to negotiate a price around $19K if you try.
