Posts: 425 Location: Elkhart, IN | I read an article in an older In-Fisherman about using Husky Jerks for muskie, and my first came on a BPS Topknocker which is a bass lure, so this got me to thinking, how many of you use bass lures for muskie?

Western Wisconsin | Jigs, Bass crankbaits, spinnerbaits, spoonplugs, hellbenders, rattletraps etc. These are all used throughout the Muskie world with great success in some areas. Personally I prefer the Jig, many, many, Muskies taken on the old jig & pig combo.

Posts: 3928 | I use HuskyJerks in the spring, as well as RistoRaps all season long. I always beef up the rings and hooks, first, in case I hook a really big girl. Might happen someday, you never know. A good trick for bass sizes spinner baits is - throw a small split ring over the r-bend, then your leader snap won't slide around. I've see guys boat upper 30"s fish with this set up, I would be worried about a really big fish, though.

Posts: 1310 Location: Washington, PA | I use bass sized spinnerbaits, sometimes husky jerks, and when I used to smallmouth fish I had tons of bite offs on jig and grub combos. They work, just depends where you're fishing, and what they want.

Location: Milwaukee | I, also, have used bass size spinners. My son caught his first muskie last week Sunday on a green v-blade bass bait, a nice 32 incher. I suppose a real fatty could straighten the hook, but what a good story!

Posts: 1137 Location: Holly, MI | 1/2 oz spinnerbait brought me two skis this year. White head, white skirt, twin white blades. Landed two small 30 somthing skis on it then a small mouth bent the wire just in front of the head pretty good. I straightened it out and the next big smallmouth broke it right where it was bent and stressed. I saw the smallie dancin' on the surface trying to throw the hook still stuck in his mouth and reeled back in my empty leader.

Posts: 328 Location: MN | After bass fishing on waters where there are alot of Muskies, I never hooked into Muskie as many do bass fishing! So, I use the big muskie lures! That is what they are made for!

Posts: 425 Location: Elkhart, IN | Part of what got me to thinking about this topic is I saw a guy bass fishing and about wet himself when a muskie hit his buzzbait right at the boat:-)
