Is/has anyone used the Shimano Torium for blades? If so, what are your thoughts?

Not the Torium but I use the Tekota 500 and love it for double 10's. Pretty much the same reel but it has the level wind.

The Tekota? That's very different from the Torium. The Tekota is a trolling reel.

Well that's a matter of opinion. Not all tekotas have a line counter. If you're looking at the new Toriums they look very different than a Tekota, I agree but the old ones were almost the same without a levelwind. I've been throwing dawgs, mag dawgs and double 10's for 4 years now with the older Tekota 500 and it's awesome. Yes, it's a larger round reel but not too big to palm and it works great. Works so well I bought a second one and others in my club have tried it and been surprised how well it does. All for under $200!

OK that makes sense - yea I'm looking at the new ones. They are very similar to the Trinidad.

Been there done that, threw the reel in the water. Tried the Torium as a substitution to the older gold Trinidads. Apparently there is no breaking system and the reel backlashed all the time.
