Location: NE Wisconsin | Has anyone tried hatchery trout for bait in WI? It is my understanding trout coming from a disease free hatchery are legal bait WI. My guess is a 14" pellet fed rainbow can"t cost more then a sucker. I would have the receipt with me, from where I purchased the trout, but think they would make great bait. And you could eat what ever bait you have left!!!! |

Location: NE Wisconsin | I recently called the WI DNR in Madison about the legalit of using hatchery trout for bait. I was told as long as they are obtained from a,disease free approved hatchery they are legal to use. I was also told it would be best to have my receipt in my possession while using them. |

Location: Waukee, IA | They would, hypothetically, be great for bait. Soft fins, perfect size, inexpensive and oily. The only drawback would probably be durability. |

Location: Eagle Lake Vermilion Bay, Ontario | actually with a rubber band through the nose (and now any clip that releases good) once in the lake at late fall temps they held up very well. i used 1 hook to minimize injury. they just need alot of constant oxygenated water before/after.
