Location: MN | Asking for a buddy who's got at least a ten year old X104 unit. It will power up but only give a “white” screen. You can’t see anything, however, when you press the buttons you can hear the beep. Does this mean it is functioning still and the screen can be fixed? He called Lowrance and they can't/won't help…old technology. Is there a reboot of the software or a reset function that can be preformed? Is there any repair possibility? I don't think he asked and they didn't offer, but do they sometimes do a trade in/discount on purchase of a new unit? Are they worth anything for parts to anyone? He's having a hard time considering the thought of just tossing something he paid $2200 for originally. What's his next move? Thanks |

Location: Forest Lake, MN & Bemidji, MN | Hi, have him google lowrance the model and soft reset and hard reset codes. I did it for an old lms 334c I had and was able to find the way to do them both. It was just holding down a couple keys plus the power button when you power it on and then holding the buttons until the map appeared. Super easy, not sure that's the problem but its worth a try. | I'd lean towards a faulty screen. But, also test input voltage to the unit. Inadequate voltage (< 11 volts) can cause issues like this. The two largest pinholes on the unit power plug are input voltage. I also included reset procedures below:
Soft reset:
1. Turn unit OFF
2. Press and hold the PAGES key
3. Press and hold the PWR key
4. Release both buttons when the USA map appears
Hard reset:
1. Turn unit OFF
2. Press and hold the ZIN&ZOUT Keys at the same time
3. Press and hold the PWR key
4. Release both buttons when the USA map appears.

Location: Forest Lake, MN & Bemidji, MN | No, it was black, my map page completely disappeared on the water one day. I had the full map up and the screen just went black. I thought the power must have worked loose from the battery or I popped a fuse but when I hit pages I could use sonar and everything else but the map option was gone. It was like it did not have GPS at all. I turned it off and back on a few times and it didn't fix anything. I googled up the reset codes (looks to be the same ones listed in the other post) and the soft reset worked like a charm. So it was not a screen issue exactly like your friend is experiencing but I wanted to offer the suggestion in the hope that it isn't a fried screen. |

| More than likely its an issue with the LCD panel, the LCD drivers or the connection to the main board. The LCD itself can be replaced but it will not be the same. Lowrance uses an optically bonded LCD (glass overlay with a gel type material between glass and screen) to make them more viewable in direct sunlight.
The LCD part number is Sharp LQ104V1DG21 10.4"
The same connector is used on an LCX 25. If you are lucky enough to know someone that has that unit you could verify that is indeed the LCD panel and not a problem with main board by connecting the LCX25 board to the LCX104 panel and see if it fires up. Do the same with the LCX104 board to the LCX25 panel.
Watch ebay. Non functional units are sold all time. Maybe you'll get lucky and can find one that has a different problem than this and use it for parts.
