I am headed to the Minocqua area Oct 10 to close up cabin for the year and to do some musky fishing.

Can anyone give me an idea of when you think turnover will begin. This is maybe a really hard thing to predict so I apologize if it is a stupid question.

I generally fish smaller lakes, but I am thinking of giving the Minocqua chain a try.

Thanks in advance.

The 10th?

Have you figured out time travel??

I don't fish Minocqua area, but not to far. I would say turnover could be starting anyday now if it hasn't already.

Nice thing about that area is if your chosen lake is mid-turnover you can find several lakes nearby that either haven't started yet or are already done.

I checked in with an area guide on Monday about the Boulder Junction/Manitowish Waters area and he said some lakes had just turned and others were in the process. It's been cold the past few days, but it is supposed to warm up over the weekend so that might drag out the lakes that haven't flipped yet. I think for the most part you'll be okay by then.

And there's plenty of smaller/shallow lakes or flowages that never stratify so never really turnover, a bunch of those around Hwy J if Minoqua chain is all gunked up.
