I am likely pulling the trigger on a new boat today. I plan to get a terrova and helix 9 to go with it. I assume the best place to put it is at the console, on the other hand it would be nice to have up front too.... I will only have the cash for one, which position would you put it at?

I would put it on an arm on the left side of the steering wheel. You could see it easily enough from the back of the boat, or you could raise the arm a bit and turn it if you fish out of the front.

I have a helix 9, and I think the screen is big enough to see from a bit further away.

I have mine on a large ram mount at the front of the console. When driving the boat, the ram is adjusted down and back so the graph sits right above the gauges. When casting up front i have it rotate around with the arm raised vertically which allows me to see it well when standing.. I don't have a windshield on my boat tho (single console), otherwise that would get in the way trying to see it up front.

not sure what the price difference would be but you might be able to get into 2 helix 5s for the price of a 9, then pout one up front and one at the consol

Depends on the boat, but I only have one right now as well and it's on a ram mount at the console and I'll just rotate it towards the front when fishing

Ram mounts are a beautiful thing. Just get one and mount it like these boys are saying.

I think you could probably do this for the same price.

If you are looking to use i-pilot link though, you would need the 9. 5's are not net-workable.

Put a ram mount on the dash and a ram base on the bow. All you need is an extra power cable up front and you can just move the whole unit to the bow and use the universal sonar up front for transducer.
