I've noticed a trend in my boat. If I am running both graphs (humminbird 989s, networked), and then turn on my livewell pump, I lose power to my accessories. I have to shut off the master power and then turn everything back on. It doesn't happen every time, but it happens enough to be annoying.

How do I diagnose the cause of this issue?

Are both graphs on one accessory lead?

I would start by load testing the battery to make sure it is good, even if new. Additionally, make sure you are running large enough gauge wire to the units as well, 16 gauge for those units will keep you from loosing power over the span of the wire. When you're in there, a 3 amp in-line fuse on both positive leads to the units is suggested.

If I'm reading the question correctly, he has a computer driven power system. No fuses or power wiring are necessary.

Both graphs and the network hub have their own accessory lead. It's the standard Tuffy setup, so I'm not even sure where to start. I've been told before to leave the "black box" alone.

My battery is brand new, so I doubt it is the battery. The same thing happened with my old battery which is why I bought a new one.

The only other thing I have to offer is something is sucking power when it is sitting in my garage. If I don't use it in a couple of weeks, the battery is severely drained.

Sounds like your battery is draining...if the master power is off, then it could be the outboard or something else wired in to the system. Has this been happening from new?

Yes, the master power is off. It's been happening since I bought it 3 years ago. It's a 2008.

I'd guess the wiring is not hooked up correctly.

maybe your master turn off is bad. works well enough to disable starting but lets just enough current through to still let your electronics be in the circuit.

The Master only shuts off the stuff tied into the accessory box. It doesn't affect the engine. I'm starting to wonder if the last owner wired something outside of the accessory box. I'll have to dig through the boat this weekend.

Look for a red 'jumper' wire under the console that looks like it was added to the system after the fact.

Anything wired into the console wiring should be moved to an accessory lead. Anything that is added to the command unit wiring that is not on accessory lead 1,2,3 or 4 should be checked out.
