Looking at going to Minnesota for my boyfriends birthday the end of August muskie fishing. Looking for suggestions on where to go that aren't horribly expensive.

Does he have a boat or looking to rent one? Also what size of boat (as this may affect how big of a lake you'd like to fish). Final question are you two fairly accomplished at musky fishing or somewhat beginners. I can't help much with resorts but I know of many decent hotels that are very close to multiple good musky lakes. Could be on the water in 5-20 minutes and have a nice sit down dinner within walking distance. The lakes vary a lot though based on how big, how scenic and how easy they are to fish.

We have a boat it is a 17 ft tracker with 75hp motor. Seasoned muskie fisherman. Would prefer more scenic lakes.

Bayveiw lodge is reasonable. Have a bar and good food. It is located in big bay and can get pretty choppy out there, but can always put the boat on the trailor and cruise over to a differant boat launch in a more protected bay. Make sure you have a gps and lake chip also, lots of rocks out there.

Vermillion is the most scenic muskie lake in Minnesota and has very reasonable lodging. Lake Vermillion also has some scary big fish in it. Biggest draw back though is that even for guys that know the lake well you can easily fish three days without netting a single muskie. Other times she can treat you well but it can be a tough lake. If you go there it will be a fun adventure. If you'd like to try something slightly less scenic but much smaller and a little easier to fish Private Message me and I can give you a couple suggestions.
