What brand/lens do you prefer if you buying a single pair?

Costas. Big fan of their lenses. I have green mirror and blue mirror. I'd say green mirror is more versatile but i favor blue mirror on blue bird days. Clearer water i'd go blue mirror, stained i'd go green. 580P lenses for me.

love my Costa blue mirror lenses...I have 2 pairs and the cover all the bases.
I wear the Costas in partly sunny to sunny days...and currently H30s w the polar clear lenses..for cloudy days and low light... can get those for $35 frame and lense...
Ordered a pair of Kaenons though that aren't here yet that allow 50% Visual light transmission as opposed to the 40% of the Polar clear lense

imo 2 good pairs are all you need.

I would get a pair that blocks as much peripheral light as possible. I personally like a dark mirrored lens. As far as brands go the consensus is that costa are the best. I have pretty much owned everything but Costas. Try on a bunch of different brands and styles and find out which ones fit best. If you wear a hat while fishing make sure you are wearing one when you try on the glasses.

I'd agree w/ blocking the peripheral light out except at sunset/sunrise that actually makes it darker and you want the opposite at low light times....

H3O's are great since you get 3 different lenses to switch between.

It's all BS,,,,,everybody goes to the store grabs a few walks over to the little square mirror and picks the one that they think makes them look "cool"

I have several pairs of Costas and just got a prescription pair of Maui Jim stingrays with a dark lens and they work great. The Maui Jims have very nice lenses and were covered 100% by my vision insurance which always helps the wallet!! Can't go wrong with either!!

I have Costas with the green mirror 580g lenses. Wear those 90% of the time. On real sunny days I put on a pair of Maui Jim's with much darker glass lenses. Love them both.

I'll 2nd the H30. I use the Rage model. Search ebay...very reasonable and you get 3 shades of lenses...you can pop them out in seconds depending on conditions. I'm sure they are not up to the quality of Costas but hard to beat for the price.

I have a pair of Costa fathoms with green mirror amber lenses and pair of fathoms that used to have the sunrise yellow lens but I found them not to cut glare in any light situation. I replaced them with the rose/amber Fuse lens that let's in 30% light. I like them.

Some great suggestions above as well.

 Yep, pretty good lenses.

I'm gonna get flamed for this, but here goes...I love Oakley frames and I really like their lenses.  I have two issues that I have to have in any glasses I wear.  I can't wear them on my ears like most glasses are meant to be worn.  It gives me a RIPPING headache in short order.  I have to have a frame that sits on my skull, over my ears, and most Oakleys do that.  I can "clamp" them onto my head and can wear them all day.  The second thing I really need is no frame on the bottom of the lens.  I like the lens to sit against my face...again, Oakleys feel good on me in that regard.  So I wear Oakleys for the frames and in turn, their lenses work fine for me. They're not as quality optics as Costa or Maui Jim's, but  I've tried each of those, as well as Action Optics, Revo, Ray Ban, Serenghetti...all of them.  I can't wear them.  So I'm an Oakley Flak Jacket guy and they work great for me.  Just gotta watch the lenses because they are all plastic.

I cannot add a lanyard to sunglasses for the same reason. The added pressure gives me that ripping headache. Having said that I will probably get about 50 of them in the mail come Christmas time.

I have the Oakley Hijink with the Angling Specific lenses. I love them. Plastic lenses so they have accumulated some scratches over the last two seasons but they are awesome glasses.

I completely agree! I just like the fit better. I have the Radarlocks with the Path lenses and use the Shallow and Deep water prisms (had a 50% off coupon and customs came with 2 lenses :)). This combo has rendered my Mauis to working outside glasses and Ray Bans to my driving glasses. My brother swears by his Costas and was impressed by Oakley's Shallow and Deep water prisms.

that ^

I've got the older 400G lenses in mine, Samantha has the 580g in one pair and the polycarbonate lenses in the other. If I had to replace them, I'd go with glass, as Samantha's polycarbonate lenses got pretty scratched up. But then she throws them in her purse and around the car, so if you take care of them they might be fine.
