Call, Email, Tweet or FB message Speaker of the House Rep Kurt Daudt today. The House republicans have sided with wealthy lake shore owners to take control of Public water and stop future muskie stocking on 5 lakes, next year it will be all of them. Use the hashtag #mnpublicwater

Kurt is a very nice guy so please be respectful and educate him on your love for public water and oppose this anti-fishing legislation in the game and fish bill

Email sent. I also sent out a group text to about 40 people and have received close to 25 replies that they have contacted him as well. Hopefully the others follow suit soon.

Thanks again Fool for keeping these updates coming. I truly appreciate it.

Sent... "In your face" all the time (with respect) emails, calls, etc. to the reps will keep the issue fresh in their minds. We do need professional lobbyists/ people to help in this cause. I hope a well organized campaign by one of our muskie orgs. will get this in gear and we can fund this via raffles, donations, tournaments, etc.... Raise my dues if that's what it takes.

Here is a link of Al Lindner speaking about the issue. It's only 2 minutes long but is something easy and to the point for reps to view.

I've sent links to my reps.

Done as well, plus I sent that link to my reps. I went back and forth with my state Sen. Dave Osmek(lake Minnetonka area)today, who outright said he puts more weight into what lake associations think vs. the general public, and that "you musky fisherman" refuse to compromise...turns out he is a sponsor of the Senate bill, so everything makes sense now. One less vote for him next election cycle.

Does this mean we can expect Sen. Osmek to demonstrate the art of compromise with the democrats this year in the legislature?

Funny, in the Senate hearing Osmek was offering a compromise I'd take in a minute and it was his buddy Ingy that said no to it. Maybe Dave's confused again...

It's available on the MN legislative site. The Bill is 3207 if I remember correctly.

Curious, can you elaborate on what type of compromise Sen. Osmek was contemplating?

I sent a note yesterday, and included the Canada goose incident, which is now is in the news in the Fargo Forum. My main points were basically that this was a move by lake shore owners to control what they view as their lake, which should be viewed as a public resource. Given the guy that is the poster child of this movements is also the guy fined for shooting of geese both out of season and in an area that is prohibited, he is not the example that should lead what the MN DNR should be doing. We should leave this to DNR PROFESSIONALS that are trying to address public desire with knowledge and data, not lakeshore owners who base their assessment on personal interest and anecdotal opinions. I also pointed out the fact that I bought a place on pelican because of the stocking and spend thousands there in taxes and purchases. If they end this, eventually I will sell and go elsewhere.

Thanks everyone for their support thus far. Right now we are in a holding pattern to see what A. The Senate decides to do and B. See if it looks like it will be brought out for a vote in the general assembly.

Stay tuned and we will let everyone know when it's time to move on this again.
