I am looking at adding 2 of these seats for my rebel and I was curious what other options any of you could recommend since the lund brand seats are absurdly priced (like 379 for the butt seat and pedestal). Any cheaper alternatives you have experience with and could recommend would be appreciated!

Lund seats are made by Atwood and the pedestals are usually Springfield. I would check to see where I could buy two of each cheaper than from Lund.

Lund uses a proprietary base, so for a proper fit you'll need to buy the seat, pedestal, and base. I went with this combination; all the parts are on sale at Cabela's right now. I have to say, however, that the pedestal has not been very durable. After four seasons I need to replace replace it, or cough up the bucks for a Lund.

Pedestal: http://tinyurl.com/gm5hhlb (I'm 6-1 and the longer version is perfect.)

Edit: that base will match up exactly with the footprint of your present base, so you will not have to drill any holes. Use the same screws.

Lund does not use any proprietary bases. The bases in dads boat all have Springfield labels. Springfield is a Brunswick group as is Attwood. The Centric II seats ARE the Lund pro-ride seats.

Proprietary is size/design, not exclusive manufacturer. Users do find pedestals that fit, but not fit well, resulting in a wobbly seat. (Which is something I'll have if I gain another ten pounds.)

So are Lund bases and pedestals Springfield bases and pedestals or not? I always thought they were the same with different names on them. Maybe I am wrong.

We have replaced several bases over the years and the Lund bases and pedestals have been 2-3/8" for the removable pedestals and 2-7/8" for the drivers seats. We have worked on several boats over the years and have had everything standard. We have even replaced the bushings with standard Springfield sizes. They ARE the same contrary to what Yooper says at least from 2000 and newer.

I even called the local Lund Dealer to verify. They are 100% the same.

I was also interested in adding a front pedastal to my 2004 lund so I took some measurements. The opening in the base was indeed 2 3/8" and the posts all had Springfield stickers on them.

My front pedestal needs replacing. At the time I installed it I could not locate anything that fit, and my dealer said the Lund pedestal was proprietary. Glad to know this is not the case. Thanks for the clarification, Ryan. Time to shop. (This time I'm taking the base with me - good insurance against b.s.)

current Lunds use Attwood Swivel Eze 238 bases and pedestals, not Springfield. My Alumacraft had springfield bases and they are not compatible with my 2014 Lund. I'm not sure when the switched to these bases but I think it goes back to at least 2010

I've seen lunds with different bases, so make sure what you are getting matches your boat.

I had a 2003 Lund that used the "taperlock" pedestal and I wanted a butt-seat. I don’t recall if I contacted Lund, but after realizing the absurd price they wanted and being told it was non-standard I called the seat base manufacturer to see what would fit—they said it was not their typical size that is available in most places, but that it WAS available elsewhere. They sent me a link to the correct product at a retailer called Cascade Depot, where I was able to purchase the pedestal that fit into my base. It wasn't a super-high-end pedestal, but it worked very well for the time I owned the boat and it was something like $75. I purchased a cheapie butt-seat separately, but I would recommend spending the money to get a good-quality seat. You can get good ones from Llebroc for $79, they make or made the seats for a number of high-end boat companies. http://pilotchair.com/cat-llebroc-bass-boat-seats.cfm

When I purchased a new OEM butt-seat for my Basscat it was well under HALF the price Lund wanted, and it's a very good quality pedestal and high-quality seat, so it seems Lund is simply price-gouging.
