| Again asking for your expertise - experience on a F20, “Yamaha 20HP”. I can get this motor with power tilt, but not with (power tilt and trim).
From what I understand having never owned a motor with electric anything. Power tilt allows you to raise – lower the motor while running a very slow speed, in neutral or when stopped. My guess is the main advantage comes in loading and launching. Also perhaps when going over some shallow or rocky areas to avoid dinging anything.
Any words of wisdom, is it a big advantage over lifting the motor up by hand and securing it to the “bracket”?
I’m 56 have some shoulder issues and will not likely be buying another new motor in the future.
I can get the F25 (25 HP) with power tilt and trim. But it weights 180 pounds. My boat is only ~ 300 #, with me at 245 #, 2 batteries and a 6 gallon gas tank and a transom mount tolling motor in the back, and I’m not comfortable with that much weight hanging off the transom. The F20LP (20 HP with tilt) weights about 134 pounds which isn’t that much more than the current 20HP 2 stroke.
Thanks again,

Location: Sawyer County, WI | I'd go with the 25HP assuming the hull is rated for it. You won't be sorry you have the extra HP. |

| I would bet that on a 20 hp motor tilt is enough to act as trim. But don't take my thought without looking into it more. |

| I went to the dealers: Honda and Yamaha both over an hour away and they are both fine motors. The 25 HP is a bit heavy for my smaller boat and they each suggested the 20 HP models. I can see Yamaha has come a long way since I bought mine in 2002.
I think I will go with electric start despite the cost, pull starting a 20 HP is a bit of work and I can a cold start on a cold morning might make me glad to just push a button. I'm not getting any younger. Unfortunately trim is manual on the 20 HP versions for both motors when at high speed. Trim (tilt) is nice but only works when your moving very slowly, say over shallow water.
