Could this be the first entry for a gill board?
Stupid Moments in Angling
Angler hospitalized with bluegill in throat

Associated Press — June 11, 2003

MACOMB,Ill. — A fisherman was hospitalized with damage to his esophagus after a bluegill became lodged in his throat.

Jamie Woods, 29, of Colchester was listed in fair condition Monday, June 9, at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb, Ill.

Officials said Woods, who was fishing at the time, was playing with a bluegill in his mouth when it began squirming and lodged itself in his throat Sunday.

Hospital paramedics and the Colchester Rescue Squad rushed to a home near Plymouth which is about 20 miles southwest of Macomb. At the home, they found Woods struggling to breath.

A phone call to authorities indicated Woods was turning blue and coughing up blood.

The four-inch long fish was wedged sideways inside Woods' throat.

Using forceps and a lighted scope, the paramedics pulled the fish out then transported Woods to the hospital.

Police said the fish was dead when it was removed from Wood's throat.

No doubt there are those who mourn the loss of the 'gil, and feel utter contempt for the dummy who brought the 4"er to an untimely demise!:O Here, in order to marry into an "outdoors" family, one must be able to swallow a madtom tail first; if you live, you are set for life; if you cough up the tom you are thrown out of the Mr. Turtle pool and banned from the property; if you die, you are buried w/ a 3 burst buckshot salute under a bull pine and honored as one who tried, but sadly died...

Will somebody please inform this guy to stick with soft rayed fish before attempting spiny fins like a bluegill. A nice foot long sucker would have slid right down. Even a goldfish is in the carp family. Some folks just got no sense!
