So I picked up a tuffy esox mag. I have a question about the wiring for the trolling I bought.(minn Kota 70#).
There are four wires running off the front panel that are to be attached to the trolling motor batteries. Two positive and two negative.
My question is: is this a setup used for running 24v system without using a jumper cable between the batteries?
There is a switch on the front panel that has three settings. 12v, charge 2/12v, and 2/24 run

Sounds like just a switch. You can run two 12's as a 12v system as well as a 24v system, and this switch allows you to run the batteries on their own leads, and like you said no jumper. Basically, the jumper is in the switch, or in 12v system, it sounds like you can run one battery solo, both batteries in parallel (12v 2x amps) or in series (24v).

Edit: I missed that charge part. Sounds like it'll let you charge both batteries off of one 12v charge lead (parallel). I do that in my own boat with my own wiring.

On the tuffy mags the wires can also double as a jumper for the starting battery when it is to low..
My friend a wire head figured it out a few years ago..

Tuffys are all wired like that, it's a Marinco plug and the 24 Volts is actually made in the male plug end that's on the trolling motor
