Posts: 115 | Ok....so i went and looked at a 680t and it is the perfect boat. I really really like what i saw. It will make the perfect musky boat for where i will be fishing it. I want to pull the trigger on this thing sooooo bad, but i dont have the best truck. It will be my first boat, and ive never towed anything with my truck. The lake i fish 95% of the time is only 12 miles from my house so i wont be going long distance with it. I drive a 2010 4cyl tacoma. It is rated to tow 3500lbs. By my rough calculations boat 800lbs, trailer 4-500lbs, 50 horse 200lbs= 1400-1500lbs. Add on maybe a few hundred pounds of gear and im still well below the 3500lb rating. Im sure it will tow ok on the roads, but i dont want to be a donkey at the ramp and not be able to pull the boat out of the water because my truck cant handle it...oh and its not a 4x4, 2 wheel only. I plan on getting a bigger truck, but not for a year or 2...what do you think? Any one else out there towing a similar weight rig with a small truck???

Location: Sawyer County, WI | If that 680T is in as good condition as you're leading me to believe and the price is good/great deal, buy the boat and worry about the truck later.

Posts: 115 | Buy the boat now, worry about the truck later is my exact thoughts, but it would be torture to have the boat but not be able to use it for a couple years...

Posts: 305 | Couldn't agree more about 680t. Just an awesome boat for fishability-cast, live bait, troll, for any species on small, medium waters and in fair weather even the Great Lakes. Mine has served me and mine well for years. Unless ramp icy or steep, you will be fine with your vehicle. Fresh rubber helps. Enjoy.

Posts: 1209 | Buy the boat and maybe worry about a truck in the future, if you hall farther just slow down and not drive 80mph. You will be fine, maybe choose a ramp that isn't as busy or steap. Edited by Fishysam 3/18/2016 1:12 AM

Posts: 267 | I have a 680c and tow it with a 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited which also has 3500 lbs as the towing capacity and I know other guys who tow 680's with mini vans. My Jeep does fine and I've towed the boat over 600 miles. Like I would with any truck/towing scenario, I just don't get crazy and don't exceed 65 mph on the interstate. The only issue you MAY have is on steep slippery ramps since you only have 2 wheel drive. Edited by goose007us 3/18/2016 5:16 PM

Location: MN | I towed my 680T for many years with '96 Jeep Grand Cherokee and after that a 06' Trailblazer, both 6cyl engines, no tow packages, both pulled it fine. My current tow vehicle is an '13 F-150 and I don't even know the 680T is back there. Only one time I struggled pulling my boat out the water but there was 6" of snow over a layer of ice on the ramp, otherwise never had a problem. Your truck should get the job done well.

Posts: 13688 Location: minocqua, wi. | sounds crazy but it's true ... you could get a used ford crown victoria and pull that boat without a problem. if car/truck is not a high priority i wouldn't worry about it. that 680T will last you many, many vehicles in your lifetime so i wouldn't tie the decision to what you drive now.

Posts: 267 | The 680T is a great boat for the guy who fishes alone a lot. My buddy has one and I absolutely hate fishing out of the back of it. Nowhere to stand comfortably. Good luck with yours.

Posts: 267 | Clammer - 3/22/2016 10:28 AM Yup, that is what I do and it works. But it is far from comfortable to fish on. One bad off balance hook set from disaster.
