Posts: 1209 | Had a day of days at 56* I absolutely struggled tho saddest thing ever, seen muskies every 4 minutes the entire day, a noob and a rooky boats got 2 fish each 48", I had 15-18 seriously trying to eat my bait and another 50+ followers. But I didn't catch any. I hit a fish in the head with my rod in 30' of water in the 8. Went back two days later got my double 48's alone. I never want the have a hot fish on my first cast ever again. Posts: 8828 | Seems to me that things start heating up around 68 degrees, and anything from there to about 73 is best.

Location: Grand Rapids, MI | Hard to answer really since it comes down to two things for me, catching the biggest fish in the lake or catching them how I want to catch them.

Posts: 20248 Location: oswego, il | Best water temp is relative to where u might fish. Some lakes, rivers ect make fishing easier at certain times while others won't. For instance there are places I won't bother fishing pre-spawn muskies but there are places I really like fishing for them.

Posts: 1663 Location: Kodiak, AK | Depends on season. In the fall, I like 30's and 40's. Summer, I like it 73-75*. I've had epic days in each range, but I don't want 30* water in August.

Posts: 1828 | I just like "normal" water temps. Not trying to be a smart aleck, I mean that in June, August, October, I want normal June, August, October temps, respectively.

Posts: 612 | This is a bit of a tough question because we get Musky's where the bait lurks (in Lake Chautauqua) this in the vicinity of large schools of yellow perch. If the perch are at 5' or 6' then cast shallow. If the perch are in 50' or 60' of water then vertically jig. So the water temp where the Musky's are holding can vary from mid 70's to high 50's all in the same day. I choose 60 degree F but it really can vary. Edited by NPike 3/17/2016 8:12 AM

Posts: 1220 | It's the opener till the close for me. Honestly, if I'm in the river today (and I will be) and a muskie happens to bite, I'll be quite happy to meet and say hi before a lightning quick release. Certainly, I'm targeting fish where the season is open, and not using musky rods....but the water is flowing and I'm out there...life is good!

Posts: 618 Location: Michigan | 60 degrees in early fall! Fish start to move shallow and are chasing bucktails and topwater.
