Subject: Slowies ????

I recently purchased a Slowie and I am disappointed with it. The major beef is that it twists the line on my retrieve. I use a quality ball bearing on my wire leader but it still rolls over and over on the retreive. Andybody else have this problem? I think I waisted $13.00.
I was wondering if I cut off the top set of trebles if that would help any?

Check to be sure the clevis holding the blade isn't damaged. If it uis pinched or bent, the lure will spin or the blade won't, depending on the severity of the damage.

Are you burning this bait? I believe it's meant to be fished a bit slower, thus the name. Are you using a straight wire leader and is it straight?

Yes the wire leader is straight and no I am not burning it. I will check the clevis and the blade. It is brand new fresh out of the box, I wouldn't expect it to be damaged. I made five casts and took it off. A little disappointing when you have limited time on the water over the week-end to fish.

Hmmm? I fish with them all the time and have never had one problem, must have just got a bad one then?

I love Slippery Sams. Yes I do have some twist problems but I do with all baits I burn. I'll take the line twist for the difference in fish I catch. If you're looking for a solution, try attatching a small rubber core sinker to the center hook, that should help. Justin@ www.hooksetters.biz I think its called slowie because of one of the makers, Has anyone ever met James Peska??? Slowie, how appropriate! Just kidding James. If anyone finds me with prop marks in my back face down in Lake Wausau, he probably did it!
