Posts: 28 | I know its probably late in the year, but I would like to plan a trip to lotw this summer, and want to stay on the MN side, any suggestions for resorts in the area, will be 4 of us going and a couple guys are pretty new to the sport so would like something with good fishing reasonably close to the place we stay, thanks for any and all help, Dave

Posts: 1901 Location: MN | Remember to get your RABC permits in advance if you will stay on Minnesota side but fish on Canada side Edited by Propster 3/2/2016 11:53 PM

Posts: 291 Location: Madison, WI | Speaking of the RABC, would you need that if you are staying in the US however only fishing on the Canadian side. Reason I ask is because we are up in the boundary waters in early June and our outfitter told us that if we camped on the US side, we would only need a valid Ontario fishing license (and card) and that a RABC would not be required if we did not get on shore anywhere in Canada. We could still fish on the Canadian side if it was considered a border lake. She wasn't sure if something had changed and I currently have an email into the Border Crossing Agency to verify.

Posts: 132 | Yes, you would need it for the Angle. Well, actually, that's not true. You don't NEED it, but you'd have to call in every time you crossed if you didn't have it. Much better to get the RABC. Boundary waters may actually have different rules.

I would be calling the Canucks about this. Sounds wrong. Let us know what you find out.

Posts: 742 Location: Grand Rapids MN | Agreed, doesn't sound right. You either have to call in (have pen and paper!) or a RABC. If you touch ground in Canada then you're supposed to call back into the US border. I would follow up with this just so you have a piece of mind.

Posts: 153 | Having just drove down the Angle road yesterday, which may require a kidney transplant. It's always bad in when the weather turns. I would go to Sabaskong and stay at Mylies or Tamarack. The road will be better for the tourists in a couple months. There are many times I have wished I would have purchased property over in the Morson area. And yesterday was a reminder! I am surprised I didn't break anything on my truck. And am embarrassed to take to the car wash that my buddy owns.

While true the Canadian tax is high, the current exchange from USD to CAD greatly diminishes the advantage of staying in the US (unless, of course, the Canadian resort you choose charges in USD)

Posts: 67 | The only advantage to staying in the U.S. would be cheaper beer at the resort lodge.
