Posts: 96 | What is the best casting braided line? I am getting ready to respool my reels. I have used spider wire with good results. Wondering if anything works better. Thanks, musky39.

| I have very limited experience with braid, but I have some Tuf Line on right now and would highly recommend it. Mark | |||

| Cortland Spectron is the only way to go. Get the 80lbs test. You will love this line. | |||

Location: Illinois-Indiana | Musky39, Your going to get three answers to this question from everyone on the board Cortland Spectron Tuf line Power Pro I personally use Cortland Spectron in 50 and 80 pound test depending on what reel and lure I'm fishing with. Spectron is a great line, I've been using it for a very long time with NO failures. Everyone has thier personal favorite.

Posts: 20281 Location: oswego, il | I like tuff line for it's casting ability and it's ability for minimal backlashes. I use power pro because it does not give me a bath like tuff line does. Tuff line sucks when the weather is below freezing.

This seems to be the diameter that is large enough to keep the line from pulling down into itself on the spool. Most of the super braids are made from pretty much the same stuff. Mostly "spectra fibers" Power Pro Tuff Plus and Tuff XP have a coating of some kind that keeps them from absorbing water. That is what makes them better to use in the cold weather. Much less water spray off of these lines. I have not used the Cortland Spectron but have heard that it is great line as well.

Posts: 355 Location: Wausau, Wisconsin | I must tell ya, I love all of the superlines but I hate with the powerpro and the spectron how they leave the coating all over your reel. Its like having wax shavings and it is kind of irritating if your picky like me. The 100 pound Tuff-Line Plus has a coating that doesn't wear off and is as smooth as my pick up lines with supermodels, wait...maybe the line is smoother! :0) Good luck, I think you'll like it.
