| Fished a MN Metro area lake Saturday, first lure out was a black jig, pink lizard, and silver blade threaded through at the end of the tail. Got one strike with no hookup right away. A few casts later, saw a huge flash that missed my lure by the boat. I don't know if it was moving so fast that I just saw a flash or what, I had $160 Costa Del Mars in Backwater Green on and would expect to see more being that it was right by that boat. Switched to other colors and other lures for a while and nothing. Later I started throwing that jig again and got a strike right away. Got two pike shortly after. I think I got a stike again also. So, I switched to a pink and silverish white jerkbait and immediately got a follow from a high 30's fish and two cast later a follow from a mid forties. A very small tiger made a pretty good attempt at my lure also. Anyways...
1: Got those strikes with the jig from something. Switched lures, got no strikes. Got pike on the pink lizard. So pink works for pike when nothing else worked. Then I got the only follows of the day with a pink glider. On top of this, my partner got no follows or strikes on any color he threw (no pink). Can you assume that if the pike like a color, the muskies will too? Can you assume if a pike like a specific lure when nothing else works, will muskies?
All of those fish I saw or caught I could see very good. Why did I just see that huge flash by the boat and nothing more?
Thanks,
MJB
