Fishing down south this weekend and wondered if bucktails were worth a try or not... not sure what the water temp will be

I have never fished it before but do fish southern lakes this time of year. I like to locate drop offs next to spawning flats, any cover such as timber is a plus. I usually work big rubber slow in these areas looking for a female prepping for the spawn. Have seen guys work the same areas slow rolling a spinner bait with luck, I just have had better luck crawling rubber.
