Location: Gilberts IL/Rhinelander WI | Geez, get over it. Buy one and learn how to use it. Took me about a month to get used to reeling with my left hand. One half of a season and I could cast and reel any baits easily with both hands. |

Location: deephaven mn | bait casters were built what they call right handed is because most people are one hand dominate (cast and reel with same hand) even it it means switching the rod holding hand in mid cast. it makes no sense to me but it applies to most.
so there are some that can cast and reel with either and there are some that are left handed or some that cast with one and reel with the other. they build and market plenty of reels in left hand just not the tranx or trinadad. their loss as they could sell more product. in my opinion the so called right hand reel is actually made to cast with your left hand |

This is BS. The reason the crank was on the right side of a baitcaster is because the way the threads were cut, meaning righty thighty and lefty loosy. If they placed the crank on the left side with those threads it would come loose every time. So they placed the cranks on the right side and didn't even have left side cranks, till the 60s. You have to realize that machining reverse threads and nuts was not easy back in the day. Spinning reels were never this way, the right handed reels were the ones on the left side cranks and you never switched hands. Remember the old Mitchell 300s? Those spinning reels had cranks on the left side and many to this day don't switch hands due to hand domination.
One last thing, if they could place the cranks on the left side without the cranks coming loose, using standard threads (not reverse) the reel companies would find it cost effective to make left side crank reels. |

| When most bait casters were round, there weren't many differences between left and right hand reels, except as muskie! nut mentions. But with "low profile" reels like the Tranx, you have to make mirror-image castings (or set up mirror CNC millings) for the entire reel body, which is quite a bit more work than for a round reel. |

logical but not exactly true as early bait casters were first built in Europe to cast with reel on top of rod and then switched hands and the reel was then turned to the bottom or the rod to retrieve. of course some preferred not to switch hands and learned to reel backwards |
