HELLO!!
1st post and looking for some advice. usually i wade the fox river and dpr in Illinois. last summer i went river wading up north to Wisconsin, targeting smallies with cranks and flukes and was well aware that musky where in the water. i was having a blast catching sm and sure thing i hooked up with my 1st musky in the lower 30s it hit a square built. i went again in October and was catching sm using twister tails bouncing them of the bottom and not a musky in sight. i knw its a totally diff game and im not going all musky crazy with the equipment. but if someone could point me in the right direction for what lures to use in the late fall i would appreciated a bunch. thanks for your time. good day

whatever you can work pretty slow...suspending cranks, big twister jigs, glides etc. good luck!

I assume that you'll be using your bass gear to cast so you'll be limited to lighter lures. Other than what was mentioned in the previous post, there's the Storm Kick'n Minnow that comes in various sizes (6", 8" 10" etc.), I do very good on these in the fall. Given your gears restriction of lure weight go with the biggest Kick'n Minnow that your gear can handle. Another good fall bait is the Shadzilla made by Water Wolf Lure's. This bait comes in various sizes as well. This lure is a hollow belly soft plastic swim bait so you could also try using other brands that make the larger bass swim baits. There's also small bucktails like the Mepps Musky Killer or the Bucher tails in the 700 series.

Tough to beat a Mepps Musky Killer or #5 Mepps. Those #5's catch a lot of fish! And can likely be thrown best with lighter gear, as you are probably using. Suick Thriller always was good for me in rivers "up north", too.
