I think you might be a little under powered with that set up. You'd probably be wore out by the end of the day.
Honestly Al, I casted them on my Top and Tail all year paired with a Calcutta 400D or Lexa 300. I kinda look at it like fishing lipless cranks. You want that rod to really load up. Smaller hooks, smaller bait...let the rod do the work. In addition, I STRONGLY recommend "lighter" line. 65-80 lbs braid. You'll kill the action with 100lb +. Lastly, a wire leader really compliments the bait. I have caught fish on floro leaders, but after trying both I stuck to the wire.
The casting bite is good. The trolling bite on these is even better.
Tight lines~!

This is what I will be throwing it on except the reel will be a quantum exo 300 in 6.6 gears. |

Location: Tennessee | That's abit of a tough call for me as I just use general purpose rods, more than changing rods to all the different baits. I usually use the .22 short on either a Mojo 8'6" Hvy, or Big Nasty for trolling. Casting, a MH/H model would work pretty well but I throw them on the Big Nasty casting too. For a reel, I've switched over almost exclusively to the Komodos. They outcast every other levelwind reel I own and are built like a tank. |
