Location: Eastern Ontario | Can you have a fuel injected 2 stroke outboard,or do they have to have a carb? |

Location: Eastern Ontario | No years in particular my last two motors were 4 stroke and I'm considering looking for a larger boat. I would be looking at used because at my age I don't think I should be putting 75 or 80 thousand into a boat because my body probably doesn't have that many more years of fishing left. But i swear I will never go back to a motor with a choke. |

| My old 1998 mariner was a 200 efi, started right up even after melting a hole in a piston. That motor made me not hate mercury any more. But I had a friends dads boat out and it was an 03 and it wouldn't start, till I found the choke. Oops. I'd suggest newer than 03 with efi, I love 2 stroke power! |

| If it's a new two-stroke motor, it'll be EFI. I don't think anyone is able to make a carbureted two-stroke that meets current emission standards nowadays, except for very small motors. I have a carbureted Merc 50 HP made in '08 which was the last or near the last year they were made for sale in the US. They still make them, I believe, but not for US sale. |

| Just to be specific, if new it'll be DFI not EFI, similar but noticeably different. |

Location: Eastern Ontario | How would fuel consumption of an fuel injected 2 stroke compare to an injected four stroke of equal horsepower say around 150. Am I right in assuming the 4 stroke would be a better troller? |

| Four stroke would be a better troller, fuel mileage is comparable especially if you don't scream around keeping in mind that 4 mpg is good for boats. I promise that you will be happy with either style motor. I'd rather keep the main motor off while fishing to spare the wear on it for when I need it, potentially sucking up weeds or any other problematic scenerio that may happen when not forcing water through the motor like when on plane. |
