Has anyone tried these bucktails? If you haven't seen them they are bucktails that are made of wire(cable) instead of the traditional rigid wire. I like the idea but don't know how well they would spin.

I've used a smaller one, not sure if it is a 6 or an 8. It only has 1 smaller treble so I'm thinking it is a 6 but the blades spin really well and I will most likely pick up a few more over the winter.

Oh, they spin-up alright. You'll be very happy with them in that regard. I tend to believe they are special and my own theory as to why is that the bait creates a unique sound or feel as the clevis spins around the stranded (ribbed) wire. What ever the reason, the fish really respond to them. I just need to learn how to keep them on better once they bite!

I figured being made how they are would really help in keeping the fish pinned.

I did start shrink tubing the hooks on the back end to avoid the skirt from getting snagged, hopefully that will also help on hooksets. Brian, just keep in contact with me like this year and let me know.

Musky metals are right up there in terms of bucktail preference for me. Guys would always wine that they didn't have 2 hooks.....it's pretty easy to add a second hook and shrink tube the back, and save $7-10 over other "higher end" baits. Last year I caught 17 fish on the same musky metal #8 and besides being a little more naked you could never tell. I HIGHLY suggest them.

Is this a Muskiemetal spinner? I bought it about ten or so years back. has a single 6 blade, single treble.

Not one of mine, I did make marabou lures a long time ago but I never used those type of crimps.  Here is one of my marabou lures from about 9 10 years ago.  Come a long way...
