Thanks! I look at this like winterizing my boat. Yeah, I can do it. It's not that difficult. But it's way easier to just have someone else do it. Point mouse. Click. Pay. Wait for box to arrive with leaders.

Posts: 431 | Make sure you use the double barrel sleeves, not the singles. The line should barely fit into the sleeve. crimp it in the middle and not on the ends. How nice of a tool you get should just depend on how many you plan on doing. I use a cheap one because I only do about a dozen a season. I use 80# Gamma, hasn't ever failed

If you want a top-notch crimper, get a Jinkai SC-3 or SC-3C. http://www.tackledirect.com/search.html?query=jinkai+crimper&x=0&y=0

Posts: 379 Location: Thief River Falls MN | ^^what Chemi said... 130# seagar fluoro, Jinkai LI sleeves, stay-lok#5 and Sampo BX5RZ ball bearing swivels are my preference. Never had one pull apart and put some serious pull tests on quit a few crimps. For wire, just a round nose pliers and a few vids on youtube and you should be set.

Posts: 906 Location: Canada | I buy crimped leaders for trolling from Huskie Muskie Leaders. I like them (Canadian made) and never had one fail. Previous to buying trolling leaders I have tied my own and will still tie my own if the need be arises as I have never had a knot fail. To this day I still only use my own tied casting leaders and will tie knots in up to 200lb fluoro. Crimping is not a problem, don't have a problem with it at all, but with the right technique and knot you can do the same thing without buying barrels and crimping tools.
