Just got back from fishing the Three Lakes Chain with MuskieE we boated three fish and MuskieE lost a BIG fish using a Zam. MuskieE felt the hit set the hook and the fish pulled out 3-6 feet of line instantly with a super tight drag....two seconds later no fish and only HALF of a Zam attached to line!!

Would MuskieE be happy if I posted if I had a failure on one of his baits?
But, he wouldnt have to worry about it, cause I would contact him directly, instead of spreading it over the net.

Sorry to make a big stink about it but we have never seen anything like that with a bait, he is contacting them directly to try and figure out what happened. It is really an excellent bait and definately puts fish in the boat, no doubt about it.

MuskieE - call me at - 608-847-6123 or Mike Hofmann at 715-325-2010. I am sorry you had a Zam break with a big fish. We at ZaltNAD are very concerned! Muskygirl2000 reported she broke two Zam's  hitting rocks on Lake Shellbyville PMTT. I have also broken a Zalt by striking rocks. If you had struck any rocks previously while casting there is a chance it could have cracked/weakened the lure. I have spoken with Peter af Rolen @ Zalt AB in Sweden. They are investigating the plastic composition, i.e., it seems to be to brittle. He is already testing a new plastic formula. Obviously we at Zalt will stand behind the product 100% and replace any lures that break in this fashion.

Like any other time you hit rocks with a lure, we recommend a complete inspection of the lure, i.e., both Zalt & Zam.

Am I going to stop using Zalts or Zam's? No! But that's a personal choice. They definitely have the ability to catch fish.  Yesterday, Mike H, (Pres. ZaltNAD) told me a customer called him and reported a six (6) muskie outing on the Petenwell using a Zalt 19cm/7.5" in the bumblebee pattern (11). I was recently up in the Yoooper fishing w/ Ranger for two days (my first Muskie outing of 2003), I caught a 39.5" the first day on a Zam camopike and a 41" the second day using a Zam in a new holoform color (49). Both struck with a vengence and Ranger can verify I was using a pretty tight drag. We were also catching large mouth & northern's.

Slamr- Thanks, I read your message again. I too resent the hidden "scam" slam. The thread could also have had the facts as the subject- "Big fish lost on broken Zam". Have no fear although we can't replace the lost fish- we do take care of our customers.  If  anyone out there feels that there is a scam- simply put your Zalt's or Zam's into a box and send them back to us and we will refund your money. I will happily add them to my tackle box and keep them posted on how they perform. We believe our customers are #1 and that we will treat them as we would expect to be treated.

My buddy has matched me fish for fish this year when we've gone out, catching 13 muskies on one Zalt, while I've used a variety of lures.  He has alot of confidence in it now, and it shows.  He cast it out a couple days ago, and it came back with only the metal attatchment(he had bounced a few rocks, but that is what we do here).  I see they've beefed it up on the new ones, but it still worries me some.  I'll give more feedback after he uses the new one for awhile.
