Posts: 100 | I am thinking about buying one of these baits. I've done some research into them and they look great. I was hoping you guys who use them could answer a few questions for me: 1. What rod and reel would I need to throw this bait? 2. What are the ideal conditions for throwing this bait? 3. Do these really catch big fish? Thanks for any input you can provide Greg

Posts: 323 | i love gliders.. all of them work but it depends on what you like and want.. $60 for a PLASTIC glider is not for me.. if it was wood or resin yeah or maybe but plastic no way.. if you want plastic go hellhound or phantom.. example for that same $60 for 1 snax you can pick up 1 10" hellhound,1 original hellound and 1 hell puppy.. you could go wood and could pick up 3 hand made wood Pearson Plugs for less then $60.. will the snax catch fish yes,but would it put more fish in the boat then 3 different hellhounds or 3 different Pearson Plugs? don't think so.. each their own though..

What’s the difference between plastic and resin? Why is one yay and the other nay? Why is wood batter than plastic?

Posts: 83 | i think he is meaning injection molded hard plastic with hollow bodies, like your common crank bait. all of your run of the mill muskie baits like burts, jakes, believers, etc are made this way. resin baits are different in that they are made from a 2 part mixture poured into a mold to create a solid hard bait. this is how the musky snax baits are made. in all reality they are a better bait than a wood bait in that they are made exact every time and can be made to run at any sink rate wanted, whereas some wood can have imperfections... granted more time and effort is put into a wood bait, but i would say a resin bait is a better bait.

Posts: 97 Location: Pickering, ON | I would say resin can make a more 'consistent' bait, rather than 'better' bait. There's things I like about each of plastic, wood, and resin. Snax work in the same situations as other glide baits. One limitation I do find is that I cannot quick hop mine the same as I can a Phantom, but that doesn't bother me because in that situation I'm happy to quick hop the Phantom. The solid resin is hefty - you're going to want an at least an XH rod.

Posts: 785 | I actually dislike gliders with all my heart but as far as a glider go snax have a nice glide. I just use my x heavy 7' jerkbait rod and pretty much any good baitcasting real. They are a heavy bait though so realize the smaller ones fish normal but when you bump up to the larger baits they will make a fairly large kawoosh when they touch down. Still work in easy though. I typically just toss phantoms or a mantas but it can be cool to own a couple nice customs like the snax. Wouldn't say they're a better fish catcher than the less expensive ones but a cool bait none the less.

Posts: 1185 Location: Iowa | I've got one of Mike's original 14" sucker gliders that I am in the process of turning into a 12" Squirrelly Musky Snax Sucker for a little different twist on the bait. I am cutting off about 2" of the rear tail section and put a nail in the wood and adding a 10" squirrelly phantom replacement tail (white in color) to it. I will post pictures when I am done with it. Hopefully it still works correctly.

Posts: 239 Location: Madison, WI | I picked up a Musky Snax a couple months back and I can't seem to get it to glide. Maybe I'm spoiled because my first gliders were hellhounds and a Kodiak - which are really easy to work even without a wire leader. any snax fanatics out there with some pointers on how to get these working?
