| Hey All,
Looking to purchase a couple of Rod/Reel Combo's for Sucker Dragging and possibly Trolling. Line counter reels would be great. Something not huge bucks but won't snap off the first time I set the hook.
I don't troll much, prefer casting, but after a weekend teaching novices how to cast, I'd like the option. It's also a goal to learn how to properly fish suckers this year...
Any input appreciated,

Location: St Paul, Minnesota | I use the St Croix. Premier 8foot Heavy Moderate action Graphite/Fiberglass rods. They have the bend for trolling and still have enough backbone for good late season sucker hooksets. I have run mine with Shimano Tekota 500 Line Counters. |

| If you don't want to break the bank get a pair of shimano tdr heavys and a couple diawa or okuma line counters. I have diawa line counters (not the sealines) and they have held up great the last three years.

Location: MN | Okuma cold water round line counters are solid the boys out west use them for big kings. So they should be solid. If I get a line conter that would be it. That said a abu 6500 picked up used for 20-30 dollars with an upgraded drag does the job on the cheap. Tdr heavy and your sucker and trolling combo cost 60-70 bucks. i should note you won't look cool. |

TI has some great rods for that reel. We will also have the new long tele rods up to 10'6" in a few days ready to ship!!

Location: Wisconsin | I dont think the TDR's are even close to having enough back bone for sucker fishing. I have used the 8' Heavy and its not a rod made for hook sets by any means |

I'm going to be talking to you shortly about a 9' for my son and I have a buddy who's in the market for a first rod after being bitten by the muskie bug this fall. I'll probably get 'em from you at a show this winter...
Anyone ever use any of the trolling combo's from Cabelas?
I have a spare C3 and C4, but I was kicking around getting line counters...
