Posts: 7049 Location: Northwest Chicago Burbs | year like forever, and I'm finally going to make myself spend more time on the east end...but with the darker water, kind of less confident in my color choices. Arriving September 30th and staying through October 9th, so I'm thinking will still be (unless the weather punches us in the nether regions) a blade bite. Suggestions on colors because lord knows having too much time to think about my one G*DD*MNED trip of the year makes me want to buy stuff! Thoughts on color?!

Posts: 239 Location: Illinois | My crew will be up there the same time! They will be staying on the east end by the big basin at cole grove's. Last 3 years we hadn't had any luck at that time with blades. DDD, depth raiders, bulldawgs, and 9" grandmas had all the action. Black and orange dawgs, glitter Shad DDD, jointed perch DR, and silver minnow grandmas

Posts: 8791 | Those are part of the inventory from back when I was putting Rollie and Helen's kids through college. As luck would have it, some of those lures actually turned out to be useful. Like maybe 1 out of 10... Edited by esoxaddict 9/15/2015 12:08 PM

Posts: 1245 Location: Madtown, WI | Black/Smoke works in my tub... and everywhere else. natural colors still work good from what I have experienced. I am sure you have some baits with some yellow etc in it as well. Its darker water, but not that dark, unless you start getting south of colmans. I like flash myself. Caught and netted big fish down that way on natural colors. But I do like black and orange or some chartreuse as well. I will be casting that area in three days, but only for sat and Sunday 19,20th. My go to baits when we hit the water? Black and smoke #10 and a silver sided grandma style bait. Although I doubt the blade bite will be that hot and heavy when you are there, but a slow rolled heavy wieghed bucktail will still get fish. Good luck!
