I ran a 2000 for 10 years. Great boat and casting platform.

Expanding your boat search to include bass boats?

The 189 is a walleye boat.

Didn't know it used to be a walleye boat. Thought he was talking about this http://www.tritonboats.com/boat/419.aspx

I bought a bass boat this year and after fishing bigger water for the first time I wish I would have bought a v style hull. Just my opinion.

This is something I have really wrestled with. For 95% of my fishing, a traditional bass boat would suffice and probably half the time it would be best. If the water is going to be too rough, I don't go out regardless. But for when the water gets nasty, a deep V would be ideal. Considering you can find a used bassboat and not find a used X-190, I have opened up what I'd consider. If the right gently used 18-19' bassboat catches my eye, I'll pull the trigger. If not, I'll buy new which is what I don't want to do.

Not to get off topic Muskyfishing89 but I know we are looking at the same kind of boats.

The problem with not going out when the water gets nasty is you lose days of fishing. Its a tough pill to swallow when you pay to go on a 5 day trip but spend days on land because the water is too rough.

I hear ya. Where I vacation there are plenty of inland lake options. I also plan 2 week vacations to accommodate for getting blown off the water. Those are the days I do the family stuff. The past couple Junes I had so many perfect days on my Great Lakes smallie trips that I had plenty of time to fish.

It's all a compromise for me. Deep V = higher sides with more difficult boat control in the wind but a safer/smoother/dryer ride when the water is rough. Bass boat = lower sides with easier boat control in the wind and bigger, wider deck but it results in rougher ride

I would have to agree that fishing out of the bass style hull is more comfortable than the deeper V's.

Not here. My 620 is much more comfortable (IMO) than my prior bass stye boats.

I switched from a Ranger 520 to a 620DVS 7 years ago, and would NEVER go back....ever. If I moved south I'd still buy this boat. The ONLY thing you lose is it's a tiny bit tougher to release a fish like a Muskie....a longer reach over the edge.
Skinny water is no problem. For casting deck space, I'd challenge any bass boat to top this rig (when I have the extension on).
The real benefit is virtually NOTHING keeps you off the water. Waves and wind are to be laughed at.

I'd say I'm on board with PSA guy. I've always had deeper V boats. First aluminum, and now a Tuffy 1760. The aluminum boats did get blown around some in the wind, but the ride was not bad on rough water.

The 1760 is very comfortable to fish from. On windy days it rides smooth, and does a nice job casting with the trolling motor pulling me along. Sits pretty stable, and does not get blown around badly. I'd much prefer a V hull boat. Gets to the spot smoothly in big waves, and the fiberglass boats don't get pushed around badly by wind.

I can fish in stuff that I think would keep many bass boats off the water, and if it isn't THAT bad, boat control won't be bad in most any boat.

The bass boat styles work well for some guys, but I really like a Deep V, multispecies type boat.

Very curious to look at the 2016 Lund Pro Angler V Bass boat. It'll be the only tin v-hull bass boat on the market. Don't know if it'll have a true deep V hull since I have only seen pictures.
