| Just was wondering, to those that own the Lake X topwaters either Cannon Ball or Fat Bastard, what is so special about them? You can not find them anywhere, and they are catching fish. So, what makes them different from the other hot tail spinning propbaits like the Top Raiders, Twisted Sisters, etc?

Location: North Fork, Flambeau River | I agree with upnortdave's comments, along with the loud pop it makes when tuned. I would call the St. Croix rod showroom. They are made locally near Park Falls.

| They are loud and move tons of water. They also have a huge profile compared to TRs whopper ploppers etc. The cannonball is a monster the JR is still a monster and work well in rough water. The Fatbastard is still big compared to a TR and works best on calm to slight chop. |

Location: varies | Pro's: Very durable (except the paint). Excellent plop and rear biting hookups.
Cons: spendy, Paint durability, t-bone hookups .
Note: they will body roll at high speed but if you find it rolling, your not fishing it correctly (too fast) as designed.
Summary : good to have durable bait but no better than other popular prop baits in terms of effectiveness.

people say "My go-to bait spends the most time tied on because I catch the most fish with it" when they really catch the most fish with it because It spends the most time tied on, and they have the most confidence in it.
Or in this case,
so many people are fishing lake x because their topwaters are catching a greater number of fish,
but part of the reason they're catching a greater number of fish is because they're being fished by more people for a greater amount of time.
I think this is similar to the Dadson craze.
In both cases they're: high quality baits + they get fished a lot = they catch a lot of fish = high demand = inflated prices |

Location: Yahara River Chain | Action trumps color or paint jobs. I like many have lures that have been chewed on and even thou they are missing paint they really get better at catching fish. |

| First day using a Lake X FB I had a double and tons of other action. More so then my TRs have ever had. Its noticeably louder throws more water and has a larger profile then most others I have used. Also love hawg wobblers when prop baits arent attracting fish. |

Location: Chippewa Falls, WI | I won't type my story about my moms recent catch on lotw (read that on mylies thread on reports/destinations forum) but I can tell you that fish ate a FB after having a 9" shallow raider (hot bait that night, had caught two and lost another on it) and a top raider that I was throwing to the same exact shorline rock. The FB was the third bait through and got ate...take it for what its worth... |
